Four people were injured after a grenade blast outsideKashmir University in Srinagar on Tuesday. According to the initial reports,the blast took place in the car parked outside the university gates. Accordingto the police, “attackers lobbed a grenade near Kashmir University in Hazratbalarea of Srinagar on Tuesday, injuring a number of people. The grenade waslobbed near Sir Syed gate of the university this noon.” The reports of theblast comes a day after security forces gunned down a terrorist in an encounterin Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The encounter broke out aftermilitants fired on security personnel posted at a vehicle checkpoint on Shadimargin the south Kashmir district, a police officer said. Meanwhile, the Jammu andKashmir Police has issued an advisory asking people in the valley not toventure inside encounter zones due to the danger posed by stray explosivematerials.

This advisory was issued a day after an encounter at PachaarRajpora area in Pulwama district on Monday in which 2 terrorists were killed bythe security forces.

Citizens are requested not to venture inside encounter zonesince such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials, apolice spokesperson said.

Bodies of the killed terrorists were retrieved from the siteof encounter,  the spokesperson said,adding that the identity and affiliation of the militants is being ascertained.

People are requested to cooperate with police until the areais completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials, thespokesperson said.
